Japan to offer 75 billion yen in subsidies for SUMCO’s new silicon fab

July 11, 2023 /SemiMedia/ — Based on Nikkei, Japan’s Ministry of Financial system, Commerce and Business (METI) will present 75 billion yen in subsidies for Semiconductor supplies firm SUMCO to construct a brand new silicon wafer manufacturing unit in Saga Prefecture. Along with supplying Japanese semiconductor producers, SUMCO may also steadily export to america, Europe and different nations/areas.

The report identified that SUMCO plans to speculate 225 billion yen in manufacturing unit and gear, of which one-third of the fee comes from subsidies from the Ministry of Financial system, Commerce and Business of Japan.

SUMCO was collectively established in 1999 by Sumitomo Metallic Industries (now Nippon Metal) and Mitsubishi Normal Supplies, after which absorbed the silicon wafer enterprise of the 2 firms.
